The design concept of the 820 Variogreentec is based on a valve-controlled dual-tank system that is equipped with an intelligent automatic switchover between rapeseed oil and diesel. The engine of the 820 Variogreentec is started and warmed up with diesel. The greentec system only switches over to rapeseed oil operation when certain parameters are attained. The automatic switchover occurs when the oil has been preheated to 62°C with the aid of the cooling water heat exchanger and torque lies at 250 Nm for at least ten seconds. As soon as one of these parameters is no longer met for 40 seconds, the system switches back to diesel operating mode. The rapeseed oil branch is flushed with diesel to prevent residues in the rapeseed oil line when the tractor is not in operation.

Everything in view

In the terminal you can see exactly which fuel the tractor is currently running on. There is also a fuel level field in the dashboard that has separate indicators for the rapeseed oil tank and the diesel tank. That way you always have an overview of everything.

The right fuel

Rapeseed oil can be manufactured regionally and close to farms. Therefore, the path from the producer to the consumer is accordingly shorter. To guarantee trouble-free operation and a long service life, only rapeseed oil that complies with DIN V51605 is permissible. The by-products of rapeseed oil production – oil and press cake – can be used as high-grade protein feed for animals.
