Transportation of goods for purchase and sales jobs is playing an increasingly important role in agricultural production today. Fendt’s answer to this challenge is an unprecedented concept: a standard tractor with a 60 km/h high-speed chassis, which guarantees maximum operational performance capability on the road as well as in the field.

The combination of shock load stabilising, reactive steering system, X5-cab with pneumatic suspension and independent wheel suspension (front), provides ride comfort on par with commercial vehicles. It also substantially increases safety, since the vehicle is not in danger of developing bounce when driving with mounted implements. The load on the front axle remains constant and steerability is maintained.

The pneumatic suspension has integral level control, so that the level of comfort always remains constant without having to make adjustments. The large height difference and long distance between the spring elements on the x5 cab compensate for braking effects and pitching movements.

In the 60 kph version, the 900 Vario is standard-equipped with the FBS2 dual-circuit braking system and FSC Fendt Stability Control, a milestone in terms of driving safety. In addition to fabulous enhanced comfort, these systems provide greater driving stability and increased braking capacity, which permit a maximum speed of 60 km/h. A further benefit is a higher permissible gross weight and the higher payload that goes with it.

Whether you use your 900 Vario for field work, haulage or special operations – you will profit from its low unladen weight in any case. On the one hand, you have higher payload reserves and, on the other hand, you don't need to transport unnecessary weight. A tailor-made ballast concept is ideal for heavy draft work.

Weight when and where you need it

The 900 Vario, with its relatively low unladen weight of around 10 tons and a clever ballast concept, allows you to adapt weight distribution to your requirements. In this way, for example for trailed implements, you can add weights at the front to attain a 60:40 weight distribution. When the tractor is then used for draft work, and subject to the corresponding torque and forces, the values are shifted and you have "dynamic ballasting" of 40:60, which is in the optimal range for draft work.

The larger part of trailers in use today are equipped with self-steering axles, since these are less expensive than trailers with forced-steering axles and also because they can minimise tyre wear. Until now, self-steering axles had to be locked or unlocked by the driver. This adds to the driver’s workload and increases the risk of operating errors.

The innovative automatic steering axle lock from Fendt makes difficulties and problems of this type a thing of the past. The self-steering axle is locked at a predefined speed as all as when reversing.
The controls and display are located on the clearly laid out and easy to operate Varioterminal. Fendt Identifier protects against operating errors when changing implements by ensuring proper identification of the trailer.

When necessary, the driver can also override this optional system manually.

The importance of transport work with tractors and large-capacity trailers is constantly increasing. This also increases the demand for heavy trailers with forced steering, which require a higher vertical load capacity from the towing vehicle. To meet this demand, Fendt will offer a new across-range concept (400 Vario to 900 Vario), which features new low hitch point systems for all models.

Available are a ball-type coupling, a piton fix (heavy duty) and a pull-out drawbar. The maximum vertical load for the ball-type coupling and the piton fix is 4 tonnes (Germany, EU: 3 tonnes) for 6-cylinder tractors. Through the separation of the horizontal and vertical force lines in the vehicle body, driving stability, and therefore safety, with heavy trailers has also been optimised. A great benefit for customers is the across-range exchangeability of the new and innovative low hitch point systems.
 

In view of the rapidly increasing number of forced steering trailers, Fendt now offers factory-installed connection points for forced steering in compliance with ISO/DIS 26402. These can be mounted on the left side, or both sides, and are fitted with standardised ball heads.
